Good Is Good All The Time Quotes

He is Our Father In Heaven

We all have to remember, that he is our Father. He has created us in his image. Anybody with children understands what it feels like to be a father or mother and how much parents love their children. This is no different. He loves us like his children and wants the best for us. He has the perfect love. He wants us to be happy, but he needs us to learn and grow. This Earthly existance is for us to be tested and learn to be like him. We have agreed to this before we came to Earth.

We will include many quotes from the Old Testament and New Testament and other sources to show what prophets have said about God’s goodness.

“All good things come from God. Everything that He does is to help His children become like Him. He has said, “Behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:39).

Does The Bible Say God Is Good?

In order to see if Heavenly Father is good, let’s read what the Bible teaches about God’s love. Would an unloving Father in Heaven have mercy, would he heal us? Would he forgive us? The prophets must know. They know him from a first hand experience.

“The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”

Nahum 1:7 (Old Testament)

“He forgives us”

Psalm 86:5

“He heals us”

Psalm 30:2 ; 107:19–21

“He upholds us through difficult times”

Isaiah 41:10

“The Lord is good to us.”

Psalm 107:1 ; 145:9

God Is The Source Of Good

Sometimes people feel that he has abandoned them. Always remember, just because you feel this way, that doesn’t mean that is the truth. He loves us and never abandons us. He is always with us even if we don’t feel it at the time. We have to deal with our problems on our own with the help of people around us. We must also pray for help and guidance and must listen in order to hear the answer.

Read the Footprints In The Sand poem as a reminder that you are not alone. When you feel alone, remember the blessings he has given you and pray to feel his love. Remember: You must knock for the door to open. If you’re just standing front of the door, nobody will know.

good God

“Every good and perfect gift is from above”

James 1:17

In the Bible you read that one time a man ran up to Jesus “ and knelt before him and asked Him, Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said to him:

“Why callest thou me good? None is good, save one, that is, God. ”

Luke 18:19

Jesus didn’t deny that He was a good teacher, but He re-directed the question to the true source and standard of goodness: God.

“I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness.”

Psalm 145:5-7

“Your lovingkindness is good; turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.”

Psalm 69:16

“The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works”

Psalm 145:6-9

To say that God is good means that he always acts in accordance to what is right, true, and good. God is good in so many ways–the way he provides for us, guides us, and watches over us–but it goes even deeper than that.

God’s goodness is who he is, and we are created in his image, so, therefore, we share his goodness. We can see his love and goodness in our lives every day if we just look.

If God Is Good, Why Does He Allow Suffering?

jesus christ

With so much evil in the world, how can one believe in the goodness of God? Many people think that if Good is good, then he should take away all the pain in the world, but that would go against the Plan of Salvation.

He loves us because we are his children. He has sent Jesus Christ to help us return to him. Heavenly Father loves Jesus. He was his son, same as we are his children.

However, the Plan of Salvation required a sacrifice in order for us to have our sins washed away and become clean again to return to our Father in Heaven. No unclean thing can dwell with God, therefore we must be cleansed from our sins first.

What Is God’s Perfect Gift?

He has given us Jesus Christ, our Savior to atone for our Early sins. Without this gift we could not return to him. This is the perfect sacrifice and perfect gift. God allowed his son’s sacrifice so all of his children could live with him one day.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

Heavenly Father does not want “anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance” ( 2 Peter 3:9 ).

“The goodness of God [that] leadeth thee to repentance”

Romans 2:4

Heavenly Father‘s character is known to us. If we believe in Christ for salvation, then we have to trust in the good which will emerge: That we will have eternal life with our Father in Heaven.

This Life Is A Test

We are here on this Earth to be tested, to decide if we want to choose good or evil. I believe that in order to chose good, we must have the spirit of God with us in our every day life. We must work towards having God in our life and have our actions guided by the Spirit.

I have lived without the Spirit in my life and everything was dark. That is the way I remember it. Hopelessness, sadness and darkness. Having the Spirit in my life to guide me took me from this darkness into the light. It’s hard to explain but it is a completely different view on life and existance.

If we are filled with God’s Spirit, we will experience and display these characteristics in our lives and make changes that will lead us to do the right thing (although we will not reach perfection here on earth). The apostle Paul describes how he sees this “fruit” in the lives of believers:

“I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.”

Romans 15:14

All His Creations Are Good

When Heavenly Father has created the universe, each individual part that He created was good ( Genesis 1:4–31 ; 1 Timothy 4:4 ).

Even people when they are born, they are innocent and good. What people choose to do, is up them. Why? Because we have free will to do good or evil. Bad people were not created by God. Bad people chose to be bad. Everybody has their own agency to decide whether they will do good or evil in this life.

god is good

All that is in God is good: “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” ( 1 John 1:5 ). God’s nature is good and He cannot do anything that would contradict who He is. God is good and all He does is good ( Psalm 119:68 ).

“The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.”

Exodus 34:6

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”

1 Chronicles 16:34

“Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”

Romans 2:4

God Gives Good Gifts

Would a Father that is not good, give good gift to his children? I don’t think so. Good comes from good, bad comes from bad.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

James 1:17

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

Matthew 7:11

Christ’s Perfect Gift As Proof

Christ's atonement

The only way we can return to our Father in Heaven is thru the Sacrifice of Jesus the Christ. Without this sacrifice, there is no hope.

What else can be a better proof of his love, than Jesus’ atonement and his willingness to sacrifice himself for us? The only way this is remotely possible, is if he loves us unconditionally.

Jesus volunteered in the Spirit World to be our Savior and Redeemer, while allowing us to make our own choices. We decide if we follow his teachings, that will lead us back to our Father in Heaven or go the opposite direction.

Whether we are saved is up to us, but Heavenly Father has given us all the tools we need to return to him one day.

We must always remember this verse from John:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

God’s Unconditional Love

God loves us more than we can ever imagine. Even if you don’t feel it at the moment, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t. Imagine a teenager who is misbehaving and tells his father ‘You don’t love me’, when his father is doing everything his his power to keep him happy, healthy and safe. Just because that teenager doesn’t think that his father loves him, doesn’t mean make his father love him less. It just makes his father sad.

John H. Grohberg said the following about Heavenly Father’s goodness and love for us:

“Men give various reasons, but the real reason is that every person who comes to earth is a spirit son or daughter of God. Since all love emanates from God, we are born with the capacity and the desire to love and to be loved. One of the strongest connections we have with our premortal life is how much our Father and Jesus loved us and how much we loved Them. Even though a veil was drawn over our memory, whenever we sense true love, it awakens a longing that cannot be denied….

…God’s love fills the immensity of space; therefore, there is no shortage of love in the universe, only in our willingness to do what is needed to feel it. To do this, Jesus explained we must “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, … soul, … strength, and … mind; and thy neighbour as thyself” (Luke 10:27).

The more we obey God, the more we desire to help others. The more we help others, the more we love God and on and on. Conversely, the more we disobey God and the more selfish we are, the less love we feel.”

John H. Grohberg

Understanding God’s Goodness

Not all of us understand god’s goodness. Some people hate God, because they think God only brings bad things into their lives. Others are just ignorant and do not care one way or another.

I, myself believe that in order to understand our Father’s goodness, we must believe in Him, learn about him, and understand our Father in Heaven ourselves. How can we know if God is good, if we don’t know him?

How Can We Learn About God?

As I mentioned, we cannot know the goodness of God, unless we understand and know God. But, how can we understand him? How can we know God? We must do the following in order to know God:

learn from God
  1. Read the scriptures, such as the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price which describe God’s attributes very clearly. The Bible was written by the Apostles of Jesus Christ and wrote down all that Christ wanted them to write. We have everything in there that we really kneed to learn about God’s goodness. Not everything will be clear to us the first time we read these scriptures, but the meaning will come as we study and immerse ourselves in the scriptures more fully.
  2. Not only read the scriptures but also, understand the Word of Jesus, that comes from the scriptures
  3. Once we understand the scriptures, we must learn it for ourselves how we can apply that knowledge in our lives
  4. We must pray to Heavenly Father to stay close to him.
  5. We must listen to feel his guidance and hear the answer

In the Bible Matthew tells us that we first need to seek Good in order for Heavenly Father to bless us with his love and guidance.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”

Matthew 6:3

God’s Promise: Eternal Life

Thru the Grace of God, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we are saved from our sins. However, the scriptures teach us that in order to be saved, we must show and do hard work and pass the test in this life.

We must overcome the natural man in ourselves and strive to become like God in order to return to him. We all fall short of perfection but we must do our best, so we can say ‘we did our best’.

Doing good things also feel good and makes us want to do even more good. The more we get closer to God, the more we will understand that God is good and that God’s goodness is unmatched.

Final Thought

We all have our own lives, and our beliefs often come from our experiences. Things happen, which things can be good or bad and many people think that everything in our life can be credited to God. Not everything.

We must live an honest life in faith, and seek joy in this life. Life is too difficult as it is. If we walk thru life with the good plan that Heavenly Father has provided for us, our life can be a lot easier.

We have been taught that if we have patience, goodness, and God’s good nature in us, thru the Glory of God, we will feel that God is good.

God is good no matter what, whether or not we believe in it, but we have to work hard and develop the faith necessary in order to understand God’s nature and feel God’s goodness and undying love for us.
